Toronto is home to the cultivating and championing of new artists. Talent flourishes from every corner, bringing us an endless amount of new, fresh music to listen to. This city constantly proves that there is never a shortage of artists and the talent that they bring. Among the newest Toronto artists to come to light is TRULY NXSH, formally known as Nyasha Ncala.
TRULY NXSH is a recording artist, producer, and songwriter. At the age of 15, NXSH started making beats while living in Swaziland. In 2012, he moved to South Africa for boarding school where he began to record music. Since then, he has continued to focus on his sound. Eventually in 2014, he moved to Toronto to start university. In 2018, NXSH reached a critical point in his career after submitting beats for the Battle of The Beatmakers competition and getting chosen. This competition helped producers like Boi1da, Wondagurl, and Sevn Thomas. NXSH made it to the Top 32 producers round where the top industry producers listened and judged his beats. These producers included Mannie Fresh, Illmind, and Just Blaze.
During his time in the city, NXSH has connected with many local talents and other creatives who can help each other thrive in the music industry. Now, NXSH’s music is being released under SEE THINGS VIVID, a new record label which also has LOST KID GAMBIT and TEJ as opening acts. TRULY NXSH’s debut single, “On My Way”, was released in December 2020. According to NXSH, it is “a reflection of where things have been, where things are at right now, and what is coming in the future.” “On My Way” essentially tells the story of his life and how he got to where he is now.
“It’s a difficult task trying to figure out how to introduce yourself to the world, especially when there are so many other songs that I have in the vault with a range of different vibes/moods. But I’m glad this decision was made. I feel like the subject matter of the song, as well as my delivery and approach makes “On My Way” easy for others to sing along to and relate to, as it’s a story for anyone with dreams and inspirations” says NXSH to Buzz Music.
For the past 2 years, NXSH has been working closely with OK! Taylor, a Toronto-based producer, recording artist and engineer, who produced this debut single. NXSH’s upcoming projects include an EP which will be dropped sometime this year, as well as a full length self-produced project. With OK! Taylor by his side, you can expect a lot more music to come in the future.
