Just before the end of 2020, Boy Pape, who we’ve covered before, capped off an already productive year with one of our favourite releases to date, “Phone Down”.

Following the release of his high energy Good Guy Bad Summer EP, the softer sounding “Phone Down” sees Boy Pape flexing his vocals and vulnerable melodies over the SLWJMZ & Grassy Matt produced beat, which caught the attention of Spotify, appearing on their “Tear Drop” playlist on initial release.

For his first visual of 2021, Boy Pape and his team accompanied the “Phone Down” single release with a Marcus Letts directed video. Letts, the creative genius behind videos for Yung Tory, Anders, Jugger, and more, opted to create a fairly intimate piece that carried the emotions of Pape’s lyrics onto the screen.

As Boy Pape sings about his struggles with isolation and the scars of his past, he watches his younger self play with toys, before eventually watching his older self play with drugs.

Boy Pape, SLWJMZ & Grassy Matt, provided a powerful soundtrack for a powerful visual piece.

Check out “Phone Down” below or on your favourite streaming services and be sure to watch the music video above! Show some love to all those involved and share it with your friends.
