On August 7th, rising R&B singer Myles Castello released his new single “Sangria”, which perfectly encapsulates the vibe of sipping sangria on the patio during a hot summer getaway, surrounded by beautiful people and a beautiful backdrop. This follows the release of his popular single “Bad Company” which was released in November of 2018, and “Blue” which released last year.

“As comfortable in the studio as he feels performing on the stage,” Castello has been garnering attention in the R&B scene as fans become more familiar with his vision and talent for measured subtlety.

He continues to display his originality and develop his sound in this sultry, club-friendly single — which would make anyone start dancing on a night out. However, the versatility of the track also makes it perfect for more casual settings, proving the singer’s nuanced ability to fit multiple settings with his music. The music video, directed by Dragan Andic, embraces a laid back vacation theme, with Castello shot completely outdoors. He is either singing or dancing while juxtaposed against a beautiful natural background, and his varying looks may be symbolic of the song’s described versatility.

Castello grew up in Scarborough, which has deeply influenced his music thus far. He has risen in popularity after his virtual tour in March, where he performed popular venues in numerous different cities over Instagram Live. These venues included Vancouver’s The Biltmore, New York’s Pianos, and Nashville’s EXIT/IN.

“Sangria” is available on all streaming platforms now. Toronto’s R&B culture continues to rise with talented new artists, and Castello is definitely a part of the come up.
