I think we’re at the start of a very interesting love story between tech and fashion.
These were the opening words of designer, Steff Eleoff, when we got to discuss her collaboration with Porsche SCOPES.
Luxury and fashion. Accessibility and design. These are things that Porsche will be bringing to Toronto at their annual Porsche SCOPES event. As much as people try to deny or run from it, technology is a major factor in how our world is being shaped. Eleoff shares how fascinated she is with technology reshaping how we design, produce, and even experience jewelry. Technological advancements in design allows designers, such as Eleoff, to combine craft with innovation in ways they have never been able to experience before.
Eleoff places an emphasis on combining the old with the new in her designs. As a sustainability-focused brand, she combines traditional practices of wax casting which originated in Mesopotamia (modern-day Iraq), combined with contemporary practices to upload, reshape, rework, and 3D-print the final design.
Why put confinements on your design, when you can be boundless!
However, Porsche and jewelry isn’t a combination many think to put together and that is exactly what their mission was in creating the design for Porsche SCOPES. Eleoff and Porsche, as brands, are rooted in precision, craftsmanship, and making people feel special. When looking at her art, Eleoff says that she hopes people see a shared commitment to quality and design that makes people stop and say “okay, someone really thought this through.” “Whether it’s the sparkle of a gemstone,” she says, “or the imperfect curves of our organic shapes, it’s all about connecting people to a feeling.”
When we discuss luxury, the topic of influence is of importance. Especially when it comes to movements of sustainability and ethical consumption. In Eleoff’s studio, zero waste isn’t just a goal; it’s a non-negotiable. They recycle metals, source responsibly, and try to ensure that every piece being used has a purpose. This is prevalent when discussing the rise in fast-fashion and overconsumption. Brands will often hop on trends and create products with the intention that people will toss them out when the next trend cycle arrives. This means cheaper quality and less sustainability. Eleoff reminds us that fashion, especially luxury fashion, should be sustainable.
However, this isn’t an idea that is normally associated with cars, especially sports cars like Porsche.
I like to think that by crafting pieces designed to be cherished, and that last, I’m on the same path—helping people invest in something meaningful, and not something that ends up being thrown away.
After all, Porsche SCOPES is a space that honours pioneers in the fashion and art spaces. “It’s a surreal honor, and a little intimidating, if I’m being honest,” Eleoff shares. When we discuss innovation, Eleoff says that being a pioneer is about respecting roots but growing in new directions. Learning from people and experimenting. This is highlighted in her custom pieces. “Trends are fun, but they’re like a sweet treat—enjoyable in moderation,” she says. Pieces that feel personal and timeless are how she plans on growing her brand.
Porsche SCOPES has helped her push her creative boundaries. She notes how rare it is to find a collaborator who values innovation and craftsmanship as much as their artists. She is excited to continue exploring how luxury can be a mindful subject.
Jewelry and cars may seem worlds apart, but at their core, they’re both about expressing identity and capturing a moment in time. It’s been wonderful to share this journey with Porsche SCOPES and to be part of a movement that encourages sustainability, creativity, and meaningful connection.
Porsche SCOPES will be featuring Steff Eleoff at their festival running from October 24th-26th. All around the world, art and innovation help us understand and grow and Porsche is pioneering sustainability through advancements in technology.
