You may not have heard of Alex Lustig, but you have definitely heard him. He is responsible for creating some of the most popular sounds in recent times, and he shows no signs of slowing down. His impressive discography includes producing almost half of Drake’s genre-defying album “Honestly, Nevermind”, as well as collaborating with notable artists like PartyNextDoor, Lil Wayne, Gunna, and Future, among others.
Alex has recently unveiled his latest single, “Neo,” which features the South Korean singer SUMIN. The song stays true to Alex’s distinctive ambient fusion style, which is unlike anything you really hear. It creates a dream-like atmosphere that transports you to another dimension filled with lush and vibrant sounds.
“Neo” for me is a track that blends a lot of different ideas. Jungle, Ambient, K-Pop. These are the things that excite me, a blend of genres without making it sound overly complicated. I think hearing how the track bends genres into something that’s new, yet still relatively minimal is something listeners will enjoy.”
Neo is also a captivating collaboration. According to Alex :
“The original beat for “Neo” used to be more chill, atmospheric and slower. But I had been in a vibe where I loved hearing my ambient sounds mixed with more energetic drums, so I flipped it and played with more jungle drums over those atmospheric pieces. I came across SUMIN’s music randomly and wanted to collab with her. So I reached out and she was down.”
The visuals were filmed in Toronto and features model Natasha Sharabura. It is a surreal and enigmatic journey through the filled, but what feels like empty city. As the music builds, the visuals become more abstract. Despite the confusion and uncertainty, the video is undeniably cool and visually striking, leaving viewers with a lingering sense of intrigue and wonder.
Starting from March 11, Alex is scheduled to embark on a tour that will take him to different locations in Canada and the US. Additionally, he plans to release his upcoming album, Fate (B-Sides), during this time. We anticipate new music from Alex and are excited to see what the future has in store for him.
