Rapper and designer Travis Scott has just announced the release of his new collab with Air Jordan, the Travis Scott x Air Jordan 1 Low Reverse Mocha. With Scott having just begun releasing clothing through his label “Cactus Jack” in 2017, his shoe collection came shortly after.
Having created a loyal following through the popularity of his albums “Days Before Rodeo” and “Birds in the Trap Sing McKnight” Scott was widely known throughout the rap community, as he was becoming known through his collaborations with rap and hip-hop icons. Scott’s first collaboration was in 2017 with Austrian designer Helmut Lang, as the duo released a sleek black leather sneaker that ignited the musicians love for designing. Scott went on to collaborate with the sneaker conglomerates Nike and Air Jordan.
Travis Scott’s collaborations with Nike transformed the ways in which the artist was viewed, as many now were able to see him as both a designer and musician- as his shoes were know becoming as big as his rapidly growing music career. Scott’s numerous releases with Nike are coveted throughout the sneakerhead community as his shoes can be resold for upwards of $1000. With Scott’s latest drop in 2020, the “Cactus Trails” fans have been pining over a new collaboration with Scott, Nike, and Air Jordan.
The newest collaboration between Travis Scott and Air Jordan is set to release this week as Scott dropped a video on his Instagram that featured Euphoria star Javon Walton. Euphoria is an HBO exclusive surrounding the lives of high school students and what they face as they move about their lives. The show features Javon Walton who plays Ashtray- a drug dealing fifteen-year-old with his brother Fezco (played by Angus McCloud). The show itself features iconic streetwear brands like Palace, Nike, Telfar, and Air Jordan- worn especially by Ashtray and Fezco throughout the series.
This campaign is one that will leave both fans of Scott and Euphoria pleased, as the posters for the collaboration feature Walton wearing the clothes with the slogan “don’t get caught” displayed across the bottom- as this goes back to Walton’s role within Euphoria and his character Ashtray, who was the hero of Euphoria’s latest season.
