Last week, Toronto’s DillanPonders dropped the video to his album stand out, “KING OF THE TOWN”. His full-length project, BECAUSE WE’RE ALIVE, dropped on December 11th of 2020, and was very well received, but still, Ponders and his team still have more impact to make.
The brand new music video is directed by Sam Szigeti, whose team at Breathe Entertainment are also responsible for recent videos from Jessie Reyez, Allan Rayman, Harrison, and even one of Dillan’s latest videos, for “JUNGLE”.
The “KING OF THE TOWN” video explores the world of street artists and the city’s that they inhabit. Director, Sam Szigeti, felt that street artists are the ones who truly bring colour to our city, and even though their graffiti canvases are often removed or town down, to be replaced by the “new” or “better thing”, they love and believe in the value of their work. And of course, these are the same sentiments that Dillan shared when asked about “KING OF THE TOWN”.
“There’s a time and space for humility, but also a time for unwavering self-confidence and belief in oneself,” says DillanPonders. “‘KING OF THE TOWN’ is that feeling I get when I step inside the studio — I know it’s time to remind myself how great I am, and put everyone on notice at the same time. If you don’t truly love and believe in your own shit like that, who will?”

As mentioned previously, Ponders knows that he’s the man he is today because of the pain that he’s felt in the past – but that won’t stop him from embracing the present, and looking forward to the future.
The new video also features cameos from Toronto artists and longtime friends of Dillan’s, Terrell Morris, JiMMY BRiCKZ, iamSeTdoe, and CASTLX.
