LOONY Releases Luxurious New Single “raw” And Announces “soft thing” EP

For just over two years now, the Scarborough-raised songstress LOONY has committed to releasing the music that she feels the world is ready to hear. LOONY’s ability to blend together jazz, contemporary R&B, and neo-soul has caught the attention of music lovers across the board – some casual listeners, and others industry legends. On his international radio show, Sir Elton John declared that he “loved that LOONY”, after playing her 2020 single “GOOD GAME” .

LOONY’s career has steadily grown over the past couple of months following the release of her JOYRiDE EP in April, and a collaboration with TOBi in October on ELEMENTS Vol. 1.

As crazy as 2020 was, there were some highpoints, and for us, learning about LOONY was one of them – and thankfully, just a few months after the release of JOYRiDE, LOONY returned with new music, which set off the rollout for what’s to come in 2021.

With talent and momentum like this, there’s no reason to step away for too long, and that’s why last week, LOONY not only released her newest single, “raw”, but she also announced her upcoming EP soft thing, which is slated to be released on June 17th, 2021.

“raw” is a smooth, vulnerable, and beautifully executed modern R&B record that can fit any and every mood. Although it’s an easy listen, its production is far from that. The skill it takes to blend together energies and sounds that are as equally brash as they are clean, are respected and appreciated.

“There’s a lot of songs on this next project that deal with a love that’s deeper than the physical, and it’s not that ‘raw’ doesn’t express those same sentiments – because to love someone truly is all about going below the surface – but it’s also a blatant and unapologetic celebration of that surface, a marriage of body and soul through a lover’s eyes. It’s seeing someone in their raw, naked glory, seeing yourself in their reflection, and being absolutely in love with every inch of it.”
