Released last Thursday, September 24th, 2020, for his birthday, Toronto’s singer/songwriter YaYa debuted his first-ever discography “Change”.

While the global pandemic presented uncertainty, Texas-born and Toronto raised 21-year-old singer/songwriter; YaYa made the “Change” from playing international basketball to the music industry. The 6’6 ″ point-guard shifted his new norm from the court to chords leaving us intrigued.

“My inspiration towards the track was just me being in a place in my life where I looked at my surroundings and i knew things needed to change and not just for my self but for most youth in the inner city (predominantly black kids) that face the same narrative, which is that they’ll either end up dead or in jail.” – Yaya tells us.

“Change” is a SahBabii, and Toosii influenced song, in combination with guitar loops and a unique tone that captures and holds your attention with under-discovered potential.

Despite never intending on pausing his athletic aspirations for music, YaYa was left with nowhere to train when Coronavirus outbreaks surged. Without a gym, YaYa moved back home and channeled his diverse talent and devotion into singing and song-writing. YaYa’s new discography, “Change”, allowed him to showcase his aptitude for melody and dedication to the city that raised him.

“If people are doubting how far you can go, go so far that you can’t hear ’em anymore

– YaYa

“Change” was written and recorded in May 2020 from Ran Beats(SahBabii, Toosii) and G Wiz (Rod Wave, Jackboy). Mixed and mastered by Myles “Losh” Schwartz (Allan Rayman, TOBi). Alongside the song is a simple visualizer directed by Jake Lowe. Stream “Change” on all platforms.
