Jamaican-Canadian artist, Lexxicon, is changing the way the industry takes in Island music. Inspired by his dancehall roots, Lexxicon creates moody R&B track that breaks every mold set before it. After releasing the Bashment Trap House EP in January of this year, Lexxicon is teasing his follow up project Tropical R&B with the release of “Paradise”.
On August 14th, 2020, Lexxicon will reimagine the landscape of his influences, creating an enigmatic project that radiates energy that is far from the norm. Of course the title Tropical R&B gives you an idea of where Lexxicon is taking you, but still, its far from what you would expect.
As powerful as 808’s are, Lexxicon’s “Paradise” embraces quiet space and silence, capturing listeners, and bringing them into a world that is uniquely his own. Lexxicon will use his next album to highlight themes of escapism and negativity, while writing about loneliness, belonging and acceptance – all of which Lexxicon feel are human in nature.
“Despite trying to runway, it seems no matter where you go, we always take our human nature with us which eventually leads to the same results of isolation and pain,” Lexxicon says. “Meaning, while living, we can never truly escape, but must instead learn to live with pain and love simultaneously.
The song plays like one big breakdown, with several intricate runs that not only feature incredible production, but also well-executed vocal accompaniments.
If Lexxicon’s latest releases are any sign, we’re in for an impressive work of art on Friday August 14th. Check out the premiere for “Paradise” below and be on the look out for Tropical R&B, set to drop next month.
