Qsofresh, an up-and-coming 19-year-old artist out of Toronto, just released his debut single under Maddi Madd’s Blimp City Records. “Potion” is reminiscent of the top-40 bangers that dominated our childhoods – layered percussion, woozy synths, an infectious hook, and inspired by incredible women. Qsofresh starts the song with his very impressive and contemporary R&B voice, before jumping into the first verse and showing off his just as impressive rapping abilities.
A sign of Qsofresh’s talent and hard work, his debut single also boasts a feature from YSL’s Lil Keed, who has been on a roll of his own lately. According to Q, the two were able to crank the song within a day – crediting the energy of their studio session for most of the work.
Lyrically, Qsofresh and Keed take turns recalling the “Potion” that women in their lives have put them under. Ironically, this track shares the same magical feeling. Slow build ups, hard bounces, classic 808’s and smooth vocal delivery have us bopping our head and hitting repeat over and over.
Be sure to keep an eye out for more Qsofresh, who has been working tirelessly to get to where he is. And although a YSL co-sign is huge, Q is only getting started. Be sure to check out “Potion” on your preferred streaming platform and let Q know Sidedoor sent you!
