DillanPonders, a staple in the Toronto underground scene, has never been afraid of the momentum. Off the success of several highly regarded singles, the Toronto native, of Jamaican and British descent is scheduled to release his full-length project, BECAUSE WE’RE ALIVE, on December 11th of this year.
Ponders has raised the excitement to new heights with the release of his heavy-hitting single “KING OF THE TOWN”, a unique trap smash that deserves to be played as loudly as possible. It’s safe to say, the anticipation is warranted.
BVB (BlackVisionBrvd), the Australian record producer responsible for the triumphant guitar sample and ridiculous 808’s, created the perfect backdrop for Ponders to get his shit off.
“There’s a time and space for humility, but also a time for unwavering self-confidence and belief in oneself,” says DillanPonders. “‘KING OF THE TOWN’ is that feeling I get when I step inside the studio — I know it’s time to remind myself how great I am, and put everyone on notice at the same time.”
The energy of the song speaks for itself, but still Ponders catches us by surprise with his lyrical ability. As braggadocious as he could be at this point in his career, Ponders knows that he’s the man he is today because of the pain that he’s felt in the past – and he’s never been afraid to share that. Coping with the passing of friends 🕊, the separation of his parents, and more, is never easy – but for them, himself and more, he’s the “KING OF THE TOWN”.
