TOBi

Still

TOBi has walked a long, narrow path to finally release his debut album “STILL”. The soul-inspired rapper/singer put together a 13-piece project that is nothing short of spectacular.

After releasing “City Blues”, TOBi has gained traction from all over North America gaining the respects of mainstream media and some notable artists & athletes. His name was buzzing around the music industry, provoking many to keep an ear out for this new talent emerging from Toronto. TOBi kept chasing the dream by releasing new music and videos, which led to his first show in Toronto, that was a sold out evening full of unapologetic soul music at The Velvet Underground. The successful first show has led him to do another show, this time in New York City on June 12th.

All TOBi needed was 43 minutes in length to put together an excellent body of work. STILL connects with the fans on a personal level as TOBi touches upon experiences that many can relate to such as love, society and personal growth. He also shares stories of his past struggles with relationships and being a Black man. He mainly keeps it soul-based throughout the album, but also sticks to his hip-hot roots by laying down some impressive bars.

The project contains excellent production from start to finish by a variety of talented producers. Take A DayTrip, being one of the more reputable producers on the tape, was involved with 4 different tracks.

He spoke on the following about his album via Exclaim! :

“There’s a lot of things [to take away from the album], but the most important thing that I can think of right now is being true to your story, be true to your identity and always leave room for growth.”

It seems like the countless hours and dedication TOBi has put into music is finally paying off. It’s always nice to see talent grow and prosper, especially when they are putting on for your city. If you haven’t checked out TOBi’s music yet, we highly recommend it.
