Emerging from the chaotic beauty of the Garden State, N3WYRKLA is an artist you cannot miss who is carving her own lane in the alt-R&B and pop worlds. From her beginnings as a rapper to finding her voice in the emo and punk scenes, her genre-defying sound is as unpredictable as her journey. With collaborations alongside icons like Timbaland and co-signs from Brent Faiyaz and Tierra Whack, and over a million streams for her tracks like “GMFU”, N3WYRKLA is proving she’s not just here to play but she is here to stay – so we sat down with one of the most exciting new voices in music today for an exclusive interview.

Thank you for joining us today! Let’s start with your main influences. You mention Miley Cyrus, Lady Gaga, and Rihann. What do you think is the common ground with these people that led you to follow their footsteps?

Definitely their originality and their confidence. They all dare to be different and don’t care what people think and I think that aligns with me. I also love how unique all of their vocal tones are.

Your debut EP SELFishly enTITLED introduced your unique sound to the world. Looking back, what was the most pivotal moment during that process that solidified your identity as an artist?

My vocal tone and choice of melodics. I feel like in a lot of records you can hear the raw emotion.

Your new single “Mind Now” produced by Timbaland features Skilla Baby and explores a complicated situationship. What inspired the song and its message beyond what we know?

Being outside and just young and 22 inspired the record. I’m young and I’m dating, but I don’t want to date someone knowing they’re dating someone else, so it’s like you gotta make a choice and I know it’s me LOL.

“CH3RRY”, also produced by Timbaland, received a lot of attention. How was that moment for you?

It received a lot of great feedback! It was a fun moment for me, since I never released something like that. I wanted people to hear and see a different side of me and my music.

Can you talk about your EP it’s not you, it’s me

It was a special project for me because it was different from my first EP. It hinted at a more R&B side I wanted to show and it was really honest. I wanted to say things I felt like a young woman might also be experiencing as well, but not want to say. The EP was about realizing sometimes it’s you and not just the other person.

“Not rushing to drop music is really helping me get better at writing…I’m developing the message I want to tell. I feel like my voice is a lot stronger now than it was two years ago…”

Your lyrics are quite vulnerable. What’s the message you hope listeners take away from your music, especially young women?

To not be afraid to be different and honest with yourself, regardless of what others might think. I think it’s important to live without caring about whether others might judge you.

Any Toronto music favourites?

SadBoi! I love her music, I think it’s really fun and I love her style.

Many thanks to N3WYRKLA and her team for sharing her journey and giving us a glimpse into her world. She’s not just redefining genres—she’s setting the stage for something entirely her own and we can’t wait to see where she takes us next!
