West-end artist Pvrx has been buzzing around the city the last few years, gradually making his way up and into the industry. The time of being in and out the studio paid off last year in November, when he signed a deal with Def Jam Recordings.
Pvrx started rapping as a teenager. Growing up in Rexdale, hip-hop played a huge part in the neighborhoods culture and many would rap for sport. Pvrx released his first mixtape 2 Hot 2 Handle, with some features from his crew On Sight years before the recognition. His track GOIN IN was posted in 2012 and was his most popular. His tough lyrics and cold flow showcase the style of rap in which his camp was into. It was aggressive and strong, which resembled more of a freestyle and hard-tone type of rap.
Since then his music style has drastically changed. He now has developed into a singing/melodic artist, that goes hand-in-hand with his story-telling music. Pvrx hasn’t been as consistent with releases the last year, though when he does drop music it doesn’t disappoint. Since under the label, his songs Know me, 94′ & Make it have received the most attention dealing with emotional feels that you can drive around the city late nights and relax to.
Pvrx has been featured on Drake’s OVO Radio a couple of times, receiving some respect from the higher ups letting him know that he’s doing something right.
He recently dropped visuals to his song Mixed By 40, in his neighborhood up in Rexdale. OVO 40 came out to the video shoot to show the young MC some love and even went to Instagram to make it known.
40 says
“Proud to call you my friend and watch your journey. Keep telling your stories. The world needs your voice”
We can expect more music from Pvrx coming soon, but for now we leave you the video to Mixed by 40.
