Peso Pluma’s scheduled concert at Estadio Caliente in Tijuana on October 14 has been called off following death threats directed at the artist by individuals purportedly associated with the Jalisco New Generation Cartel. In a statement, Peso Pluma’s record labels, Double P Records and Prajin Music Group, explained that the decision to cancel the event was made with the primary aim of safeguarding both fans and the artist’s team. The translated statement expressed gratitude to loyal fans for their understanding and conveyed the artist’s love for them.
The threats against Peso Pluma were prominently displayed on four banners hung from bridges in Tijuana, explicitly referencing the upcoming concert. These banners issued a warning to Peso Pluma, cautioning against appearing at the event on October 14 due to alleged disrespect and loose talk. They ominously hinted at dire consequences if the artist were to perform.
Local authorities conducted an investigation into the threats, and Montserrat Caballero Ramírez, the municipal president of Tijuana, stated that he would contemplate canceling the concert in light of these developments. Additionally, a 43-year-old man who was found in possession of one of the threatening banners has been arrested. It’s worth noting that Peso Pluma had previously rescheduled several U.S. shows.
